IT STEALS THE MOMENT
Now I know.
That he too had it,
This strong belief in self.
That the universe would be kind.
Not just to him,
To his offspring,
And to the wide wild world.
Never to drive him into despair,
Never to make fun out of him.
He prayed.
Looking up in the sky,
He searched for a sign.
That the answers would be written somewhere up there.
Crafted out of clouds,
In symbols, shapes,
And maybe letters.
Each with its own unfathomable meaning
Hidden within his own self
That carried away the misery
It was safe that way
To give them imaginary labels
Though he knew,
He knew
That if his forefathers saw him
They would shout,
"There goes our mad man."
"Talking to clouds now!"
They'd giggle.
Thinking it would shatter him?
He would smile.
So wide like he had it all figured out.
Then he told me,
There's a place!
Just stare at the horizon son.
But the darkness is mean?
Everyday it steals the moment.
